Rugged Options for ADC, DAC, VXS, VME and more

Tekmicro's military embedded systems build rugged capabilities into the product from the start. Our design, test, and assembly practices address the thermal and mechanical packaging requirements of both commercial and rugged computer environments for our entire product line of real-time military embedded systems, analog-to digital converters (ADC), digital-to-analog converters (DAC), and serial FPDP  I/O modules.

Tekmicro's embedded boards and systems operate effectively in laboratory, rugged air-cooled, and rugged conduction-cooled environments to meet the needs of R&D and deployed applications.  

Commercial grade embedded systems are intended for use in application development and benign operating environments. Rugged Level 2 , convection cooled, embedded systems are intended for harsh environments with more demanding temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration requirements. Rugged Level 3, conduction cooled, embedded systems provide wider operating temperatures and increased capabilities for shock, vibration, and humidity for extreme operating conditions.

All of Tekmicro’s commercial and rugged military embedded systems share the same circuit design and layered drop-in software. This allows customers to develop their application on commercial products in the lab and then seamlessly transition to rugged environments once development has been completed.

This easy migration from commercial to rugged environments results in lower total development costs, reduced system integration risk, and quicker time to market.


Tekmicro major product lines include:

- Embedded Sensor I/O Solutions using the latest in FPGA technologies. Available in both commercial and rugged versions, these real-time embedded systems and military embedded systems are deployable in any environment from laboratory to harsh environments.

- Data Recorders & Storage platforms and solutions.  Tekmicro's data recording platforms provide developers with the ability to closely tailor their solution by selecting  the right QuiXilica digitizer (ADC) to build a fully functional data recording system to their individual project requirements.

Virtex 6 FPGA Processing Boards

The industry first QuiXilica-V6 VME/VXS FPGA boards combine three Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs with two QuiXmodule sites, supporting the industry’s widest range of Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) and Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) resolutions and bandwidths using a common hardware architecture.

Like previous generations of QuiXilica products based on the Xilinx Virtex family, the QuiXilica-V6 VME/VXS product family is compatible with legacy VME systems as well as newer ANSI/VITA 41 VXS based systems for both laboratory and deployed / rugged applications.


 

 

The QuiXilica-V6 VME/VXS signal processing board is another industry first for Tekmicro, providing the industry's first 6U solution using Xilinx Virtex 6 FPGA technology.  By combining this new board with our existing range of QuiXmodules, customers can rapidly create coherent high channel count signal acquisition and generation solutions using ADCs and DACs from 160 MSPS up to 5 GSPS, with twice the FPGA processing density than other solutions on the market.

The QuiXilica-V6 VME/VXS baseboard provides a modular COTS product architecture with support for deployed environments.  With the QuiXilica-V6 architecture, users may combine the widest range of off-the-shelf ADC and DAC options with the most advanced FPGA technology on the market today to solve critical problems in defense and intelligence applications such as radar, software defined radio, multi-INT fusion and persistent surveillance.  Future products will continue to add more ADC and DAC options as well support for other form factors such as OpenVPX while maintaining firmware and software compatibility across the QuiXilica product range.
