Tekmicro Becomes the Exclusive Supplier of QinetiQ Real Time Products in North America

Chelmsford MA – July 20, 2005 – TEK Microsystems, Inc. of Chelmsford MA and QinetiQ’s Real Time Embedded Systems Group (RTES) based in Malvern, UK, today announced an exclusive multi-tiered alliance to jointly develop and distribute advanced embedded systems solutions in North America. The combination of digitizing / DSP FPGA boards and best-in-class FPGA cores from QinetiQ along with Tekmicro’s innovative fabric agnostic boards and systems, provides developers with solutions which reduce both the development time and cost of complex real time embedded systems.

“Tekmicro has been successfully working with the RTES group at QinetiQ in a formal alliance since January 2005.  In that short time we’ve announced several major new products and generated significant interest in the embedded market, particularly in the military/defense arena in the USA,” said Andrew Reddig, president and CEO/CTO of TEK Microsystems,  “With the announcement of this exclusive distribution agreement, QinetiQ RTES has entrusted Tekmicro with 100% of their success in North America.  Clearly both parties believe that this winning combination will continue to innovate ad respond to customers in ways some of the larger players in this market just can’t.”

Bill Smith, Manager of the Real Time Embedded Systems Group at QinetiQ adds, “Tekmicro and QinetiQ share a similar culture of customer innovation and commitment. This alliance is a natural fit for us to jointly create, develop, and distribute advanced embedded systems based on our individual expertise. Our exclusive alliance with Tekmicro will give us a strong presence in the US markets and a strong partner in technology co-development.”

EXCLUSIVE MULTI-LEVEL ALLIANCE
- TEK Microsystems will bundle pre-compiled Quixilica FPGA cores developed by QinetiQ, widely regarded as the best cores in the world, into its Jazz family of PMC/XMC and VXS-based products. With cores for both simple and complex FIRs, FFTs and other common functions, FPGA programming is dramatically simplified.

- TEK Microsystems is the exclusive supplier of QinetiQ’s Quixilica® VXS family of FPGA-based processing hardware in North America. The Quixilica family couples high performance analog and digital I/O front ends with a scalable FPGA-based processing architecture.

- QinetiQ and Tekmicro will jointly develop and market advanced systems.  The first such system is a powerful data recording system based on the integration of each company’s advanced technologies.  This system will be an extension of Tekmicro’s JazzStore™ architecture has already been deployed in high profile military applications in the USA.
