QuiXstore SoC

The QuiXstore SoC is a complete data recording solution available as a “System on a Chip”.  Configured as advanced firmware that is contained in the FPGA, the QuiXstore SoC is the first product to combine data acquisition and data recording on a single board. Previous implementations required a minimum of two boards. Advanced applications such as UAVs, signals intelligence, imaging, and surveillance applications where weight, power and size are critical can immediately benefit from this System On Chip (SoC) solution.

Firmware used in the QuiXstore SoC utilizes the unique Tekmicro real-time FAT32 file system which enables users to swap out a disk and simply mount it on a PC for review, analysis, and playback if required. QuiXstore SoC includes a FibreChannel core that takes advantage of the PowerPC 405 processors present within a Xilinx Virtex II Pro FPGA. Intelligent operations to trigger and record block sizes of 8 - 32K samples plus other typical data recording features of time stamping, separate or common event triggering, data channel synchronization, etc. have been implemented with a resolution greater than one sample clock period.

Xilinx Rocket IO on-chip high speed serial interfaces connect the FPGA to a FibreChannel disk through a media transceiver. Typical recording speeds can attain a sustained rate of 64 MB/s via a FibreChannel port to a hard disk of 50 GB++. The user interface has a familiar web-based format that makes it easy to operate and learn or it can be embedded in a user’s application. Tekmicro’s I/O modules and carriers support a multitude of applications right off the shelf with hardware and software building blocks that support easy customization. Whether using standard product, enhancing existing products, or developing a custom solution, Tekmicro’s expertise in I/O, switch fabrics, and FPGAs can reduce time to market, mitigate risk, and control costs.
